Westport and the Rideau Lakes region host a number of hiking trails with spectacular views of the beautiful and diverse natural surroundings. Trails of different lengths, for hikers of different strengths – lace up your boots and hit the trails!

Visit for more trails within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere. 

There are a number of trail associations in the region who are responsible for the upkeep of these fantastic trails. Visit their websites to learn more about these trails, their maintenance and how to get involved.

Various individuals around the region have put together routes for biking enthusiasts visiting the area. Routes range from easy to difficult, winding through the Rideau countryside as well as the Cataraqui Trail – alongside the old CN rail from Strathcona to Smith Falls. Home to the Rideau Canal Waterway, the Rideau Lakes are a great place for a paddling exploration. The Rideau Heritage Route has put together a fantastic paddling guide that takes you from Kingston to Ottawa. Three routes in this guide fall within Westport and the Rideau Lakes: Jones Falls to Newboro, Newboro Lockstation to Narrows Lockstation via the Village of Westport, and Newboro Lockstation to Rideau Ferry.
